In 1956 the USSR invaded Hungary and 30,000 Hungarian refugees sought safety in the United States. Tranquillity opened its doors to some of those displaced children and brought them to our summer haven. History appears to be repeating itself, and in anticipation of what will no doubt come to pass, Tranquillity will once again do its part.
We have been in touch with the Ukrainian community and at this moment we have given 20 children full scholarships for camp this coming summer.
As this tragedy continues we are ready to make that same commitment to those who reached our shores 66 years ago. We are asking our Tranquillity Family to contribute what they can to a special fund, the “Tranquillity Camp Ukrainian Scholarship Fund” that we will set aside for these children as well as refugee children that have yet to arrive, so they may spend their summer at TY.
